Was born in Buenos Aires, of Italian parents. He lived in Argentina until the age of five, then moved to Italy with his parents, first to Livorno and then to Pisa.
Giancarlo, very young, begins his pictorial journey as an autodidact. His works are aimed at the representation of a naturalism and a traditional Tuscan reality, marked by the expression "post-macchiaiola", which was fundamental for his training. This experience made him acquire a technical and chromatic mastery that allowed him in the following years to present works of considerable importance to the critics.
Carmignani's artistic career is far from experimentalism in all its reforms, revisions and ruptures. Better to live within one's own creative worlds than to resort to forced intellectualist solutions, which often lack real motivations and often lead to absolutely repetitive mannerisms. Instead, Art takes place according to unpredictable personal paths, fueled by different passions and by sometimes contrasting and opposite itineraries, even if the results, obviously, have the same direction. In the artist's canvases LIGHT always predominates, allusive, available, for a romantic reading of situations. He is the genuine interpreter of a nature familiar to him, to which he knows how to give that "magic" which gives the work that atmosphere of distant times and lost values.
His work is meant to be a serene message of reflection and love for life and nature. He has participated in exhibitions and held personal exhibitions. His works are in private collections.
